Kopje is an elegant lodge built into Mughwango Hill, just above George Adamson’s original campsite. It is named after the lioness bought up by the Adamson family in the 1950’s. Rich in history and incorporating its natural surroundings, this is one lodge we recommend to honeymooners or adventurers looking for something different. Made famous by the book and film ‘Born Free’ about the Adamsons’ life with Elsa, Meru National Park is a beautifully unspoilt area abundant in diverse birdlife, and has a rhino sanctuary home to over 70 white and black rhinos.

We love how the décor embodies the beauty of the lodge’s rocky hillside location. The infinity pool offers panoramic views of the plains, whilst the comfortable lounge area uses natural materials to create a rustic, homely feel.

There are six open-front cottages, offering breath taking views, an en-suite bathroom and a private deck. There is also one Family Cottage featuring two bedrooms, a spacious living room and an outside bath, as well as one luxurious Private House with two bedrooms, a large dining and sitting room, and a private garden with an infinity swimming pool.

The three Honeymoon Cottages are simply romantic. Two of the suites feature an opulent outside bath built into the rocks, the other one has three levels featuring a sitting room, a main bedroom, and a small private deck with amazing  views.
